Pachaug Trail
This hike started out just across the line in Rhode Island at Beach Pond.
After lunch we continued on. After a few more times going up and over rocky cliffs we came to a steep down. We hiked down, then immediately turned the corner and the trail went right back up the exact same rocky cliff. Seriously? Did we really need to do that? I could have hiked 50 feet on top of the cliff and ended up in exactly the same place minus a steep down and up detour. This set me off on a short rant that went something like this: "This was a 9.6 mile hike we are on! This hike, if hiked exactly as laid out by the CT Walk Book, is 12 miles! Pointless ups and downs are totally uncalled for! The trail maintainer for this section must be on crack!"
